From Idea to Impact

The idea behind Viridis Wind Power ™ came from a personal need: clean, cost-effective energy that doesn’t compromise the planet we’re leaving behind.

We designed the turbine we couldn’t find as homeowners. The story began in 2009 with a simple idea. Today our lightweight, carbon fibre 2-blade turbines are tested and refined in Canada at our site in Caledonia, Ontario—and ready for real world impact.

Viridis Wind Power ™ Vertical Axis Wind Turbines

Take control of your energy costs and support a more sustainable future—by generating your own clean electricity from the wind.

The right wind turbine can offer greater savings than solar, generate energy even on overcast or gently breezy days, and pay for itself in just a few years. Best of all, it provides dependable, clean electricity for decades to come.

Viridis’ Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWTs) stand apart because we take a different approach. Our patented blade design, optimised orientation, and use of advanced, lightweight materials—both strong and durable—allow for more efficient energy production at a lower overall cost.

Integrate into new and existing solar arrays.

Carbon-fiber construction features high fatigue resistance, low thermal expansion/CTE, exceptional durability, corrosion resistance, and is recyclable and sustainable.

Wide wind acceptance due to vertical orientation captures multidirectional wind—ideal for urban installations.

Acoustic noise emissions below 60dB—less than other vertical wind turbines.

Patented lightweight carbon-fibre blade technology drastically reduces cut-in speed and accelerates lift.

Install singly or in multiple unit micro and nano grids, which can be grid tied or off-grid with battery storage or hybrid.

Powering Possibilities: Explore Our Vision

We’re pioneering robust and adaptable wind energy solutions.

Our patented technology is engineered for real-world impact in diverse environments. Explore these hypothetical use-case scenarios to understand how our two core turbine models – the Aura 1kW and the Vortex 2.5kW – integrated with batteries and grid connections, could deliver reliable, clean power.

Designed for harsh conditions and versatile mounting (pole, rooftop, platform), our wind turbines offer unique advantages for resilience and performance.

Residential Off-Grid Mountain Cabin

The Challenge: A family building a remote mountain cabin faces $50k+ grid connection costs. They need reliable, independent power year-round, battling snow, ice, and variable winds, without constant diesel generator use.

HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO 1: RESILIENT POWER FOR OFF-GRID LIVING
Remote Coastal Community Micro-Grid

The Challenge:A small coastal community of ~50-100 people is vulnerable to diesel supply disruptions and high costs. They want to secure power do their most critical infrastructure, but are constrained by severe environmental conditions and dependence on imported diesel fuel.

HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO 2: ENERGY RESILIENCE FOR A COASTAL FIRST NATION'S CRITICAL COMMUNITY LOADS
Dairy Farm Hybrid Energy Optimization

The Challenge: Dairy farms face substantial energy costs with high monthly grid bills, driven by 24/7 operation operations for milking, cooling, and processing. They operate in harsh environments characterized by abrasive dust during summer, harvest, and ice in winter.

HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO 3: SUSTAINABLE ENERGY INDEPENDENCE FOR MODERN DAIRY OPERATIONS

The Challenge: Two neighbouring villages in rural East Africa (population: ~1,200) lack electricity entirely. Daily life relies on kerosene lamps, wood fires, and distant diesel generators for clinics/schools—posing health, safety, and economic burdens. Dust storms, seasonal droughts, and limited infrastructure make solar-only solutions unreliable. The community seeks affordable, sustainable power for homes, water pumps, schools, and clinics.

HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO 4: ENERGY INDEPENDENCE FOR REMOTE AFRICAN VILLAGES
African Community Off-Grid Wind Farm

The Challenge: A village in rural East Africa with a population of ~250-300 people (~50-60 households) faces interconnected crises stemming from absolute energy poverty. Daily life relies on kerosene lamps, wood fires, and distant diesel generators for clinics/schools—posing health, safety, and economic burdens. Dust storms, seasonal droughts, and limited infrastructure make solar-only solutions unreliable.

Built for Extreme Environments

We’ve engineered our wind turbines for reliable performance in the harshest conditions—from desert heat and sand to snow, ice, and freezing temperatures.

Environmental challenges like dust, extreme temperatures, and ice buildup are addressed through targeted adaptations to key components, tailored to each site.

The vertical blade profile also offers a distinct advantage over traditional designs, with an upright orientation that minimizes environmental buildup and enhances stability in variable climates.
